Delegates continued

Supervising practitioner or faculty member shall be responsible for:

  • Delegate use or misuse of the PMP and prescription monitoring information
  • Delegate understanding of State and Federal laws, rules, and regulations concerning confidentiality of patient information, including HIPAA and Federal health privacy rules
  • Conducting an audit of delegate use of the PMP to monitor for potential misuse of prescription monitoring information
  • Termination of delegate access to the PMP when required
  • Notifying the PMP, with five business days, of learning of any potential unauthorized access or use of the PMP or prescription monitoring information. Supporting documentation shall be provided to the PMP by the supervising practitioner
  • Ensuring delegate compliance with record keeping procedures established by the practitioner
